Rogelio López Cuenca has a degree in Philosophy, and a PhD in Arts and Humanities Research. As a visual artist and researcher, he works around the construction of identities, the analysis of mass media and cultural criticism; work carried out through publications, courses, workshops, exhibitions, interventions in urban public spaces, on television or on the Internet (, using procedures of both visual arts and literature or social sciences. He has participated in the Biennials of Contemporary Art in Johannesburg (South Africa), EVA International (Limerick, Republic of Ireland), Manifesta 1 (Rotterdam), Lima (Peru), Sao Paulo (Brazil), Istanbul (Turkey), Guatemala, and received the Iniciarte awards (Junta de Andalucía), Francisco de Goya (Villa de Madrid), El Público (Canal Sur Radiotelevisión), Andalusia Prize for Plastic Arts and the Critical Eye Award for Plastic Arts (National Radio of Spain).

He has been a guest professor and has taught courses, conferences and directed workshops in numerous universities in Europe and America, as well as in institutions related to teaching and contemporary artistic practices.

Since the late 90s he has been working on collective projects related to the city, the criticism of public art, history and subalternized memories. Among the most recent ones:
